La Plage du Martinez by Jean Imbert

Driven by his two passions, gastronomy and cinema, Chef Jean Imbert has realized one of his childhood dreams by taking command of the Hotel Martinez’s kitchens. He revealed his first project, La Plage du Martinez, on 16 May 2023 to coincide with the opening of the 76th Cannes Film Festival. To mark the occasion, La Plage du Martinez got a makeover. Let’s embark to the newly redesigned “Plage du Martinez”, in a Riviera and Yachting universe, back to 50’s, in harmony with Cinema 7th art elegant details with the aim of combining gastronomy and cinema. A devotion to the Mediterranean sublime, a passion for summer taste the guests will discover in the colorful Carte and esthetic plates of “La Plage du Martinez”. A simple pleasure of sharing, in the shade, under the parasols. The guests will admire the view of the emblematic light-drenched pontoon from one of our mythical directors' chairs Martin Scorsese, Grace Kelly, Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn. The dining room and arbored terrace have a breezy, yachting spirit with navy blue, to recall the Mediterranean, and warm terracotta, a nod to the world of cinema recently imagined by interior designer Rémi Tessier.

From the menu to the plate, Chef Jean Imbert created every detail with his team of graphic designers. They put their signature on a film poster that serves as the menu. The Chef’s menu features traditional cuisine and sharing plates, with strong influences from the Mediterranean and the French Riviera, with a highlight on fresh, seasonal products from local producers. To begin, the starters include: vitello’focaccia, pineapple tomato & local condiments, jean’s avocado arugula salad with lemon and grilled octopus vegetables skewer.

The meal continues with dishes cooked over an open fire: chops rosemary baked potatoes, poultry ‘à la diable’ violin zucchini… or roasted in the oven: ‘vivi baisos’ style stuffed red mullet or riviera sea bream like at SDO. For a sweet finish, the menu features a large selection of desserts, including my grandma’s cherry clafoutis, pistachio & morello mille feuille, frosted melon, ‘calisson’ ice cream, and iced tiramisu. A smaller menu is also proposed for the seaside area where new elegant sun beds take center stage.

About Jean-Imbert:

Jean Imbert, former winner of Top Chef in 2012 and friend of the top celebrities became the Chef of the Legendary Hôtel Martinez in Cannes. At the helm of the Plaza Athénée since June 2021, succeeding Alain Ducasse, Chef Jean Imbert managed to spring a surprise by winning his first star for the restaurant "Jean Imbert au Plaza Athénée" after just 9 weeks in operation. In March 2022 he became the first chef of the historic Christian Dior boutique at 30 Avenue Montaigne. His journey did not end there, as he became the Chef of the legendary Venice Simplon-Orient-Express in April 2022 and of the legendary Le Brando hotel, nestled in the heart of the Tetiaroa atoll, in February 2023. Jean Imbert also heads up the Hôtel Cheval Blanc St-Barth. Imbert created the ToShare concept, which he developed with his friend Pharrell Williams. He was voted Chef of the Year in 2021 by Quotidien magazine, and in 2019 by GQ magazine. He is considered one of the 50 most influential French people in the world by Vanity Fair.

TO EXPERIENCE BLISS WITHIN A HAVEN OF PEACE

Hidden from view, nestled within the grand hotel on the rooftop of the first floor, l’Oasis is a haven of peace spanning 2800 square meters where time seems to stand still. The delicately composed intertwining of numerous plant species, along with the play of shadows and light, paints the charming beauty of an Impressionist painting. Here, the two botanical gardens set the tone. One, creating a shaded area, is an extraordinary tropical garden blending ferns and palm trees, with a pedestrian path leading to wooden terraces for yoga classes and moments of relaxation. It is a pleasure to stroll here, with a peaceful soul, sheltered by the refreshing shade of ferns that sometimes reach over two meters high, revitalized by the musa, cycads, and fatsias planted around. The other garden, fully bathed in sunlight, crowns the pool with its Mediterranean warmth and a thousand essences: lavender, valerian, agapanthus, star jasmine, verbena, or gardenia... It’s the dreamy Provencal garden. One can be intoxicated, lounging in the sun with a refreshing snack or bathing in the shimmering water of the pool, surrounded by the captivating fragrances of the exceptional Riviera. A moment to awaken all the senses, relax the mind, and reconnect with inner well-being. It’s enchanting.

L’Oasis Spa by Carita is a marvelous refuge where precious rituals and innovative treatment ranges invite for exceptional beauty care. The legendary expertise of Maison de Beauté Carita is divided into various enticing offerings - a hair salon, a barber, beauty lounges, 7 treatment rooms including 2 VIP rooms, and a hammam - all within a magnificent decor. Shades of blue for the hammam, reminiscent of the tales from One Thousand and One Nights; pastel hues for the treatment cabins, synonymous with gentle tranquility; and gold and mother-of-pearl shades for the VIP rooms. Here, everything exudes luxury, nature, and harmony between body and facial treatments, relaxing or invigorating massages, and signature protocols inspired by the best of the French Riviera. The hotel has just unveiled 16 new suites on the first floor overlooking L'Oasis du Martinez, ranging in size from 42m² to 55m² for those with a terrace.

Designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon, these new suites feature a bedroom area with an adjoining veranda-lounge. A haven of tranquility in the heart of the Croisette, surrounded by lush vegetation.

The bathrooms offer a direct view of the garden, embracing the entire bedroom space thanks to a sliding decorative panel system.

The bow window area is covered in a canvas fabric with leather braiding on the side walls and ceiling, and opens onto the sky thanks to an immense roof opening that is covered at night by a velum made from the same canvas fabric, enveloping guests as if they were inside a tent.

While the ambience of the hotel's other rooms, a mix of white, beige and blue, asserts a desire for purity and luxury in the spirit of the 'French Riviera', the Oasis Suites have been designed to preserve this spirit of purity, simply by adding more natural tones to the whites. The materials used - parquet flooring, carpets, wallpaper, fabrics, leather, as well as some of the furniture and accessories in wickerwork and terracotta - reinforce this idea of being at the very heart of the lush garden of L'Oasis du Martinez.

Completed in 2022, the 16 Oasis Suites are synonymous with calm and tranquility, with a view over the Oasis du Martinez: a lush garden perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of Cannes!

Designed by architect Pierre-Yves Rochon, who has already been called in to renovate other areas of the Martinez, the Oasis Suites add a warm, natural feel. They contrast with the traditional blue and white of the hotel's rooms! Ranging in size from 45m² to 55m², these suites comprise a bedroom area with an adjoining veranda-lounge, and a terrace for the most spacious.

The stunning renovations of the Hôtel Martinez, carried out by the PYR Pierre-Yves Rochon agency between 2018 and 2022, transformed the accommodation and most of the public areas. The design agency has again been entrusted to transform a further 16 rooms overlooking the new inner garden and swimming pool, completed in 2022, into luxurious suites with an extension serving as an enclosed winter lounge.

Completely redesigning the rooms, PYR proposed on one hand giving more attention to the shower and bathrooms, and on the other, opening up the existing façade as much as possible, thus allowing the room and the exterior lounge to be perceived as a single open space.

With a direct view out onto the garden, the bathrooms are a continuation of the whole bedroom space, thanks to a sliding decorative panel system.

Extending outside, the enclosed winter garden is lined with undulating fabric on the walls and ceiling, which opens onto the sky thanks to a large skylight window and closes to the night sky with a canopy of the same fabric, enveloping guests as if inside a tent.

This feeling of comfort continues in the decor of the walls and furniture, with rounded corners and a soft headboard, providing space for complete surrender.

The atmosphere of the existing rooms, mixing white, beige and blue which emphasizes purity and luxury - the quintessential spirit of the French Riviera - has been rethought with the suites, adding more natural tones while still preserving this spirit of purity and luxury.

The materials, parquet flooring, carpets, wallpaper, fabrics, leather, as well as certain furniture and accessories made of woven and terracotta materials, reinforce this idea of being at the very heart of the exclusive gardens of L'Oasis du Martinez.

Hôtel Martinez reopens the most iconic restaurant in Cannes, "La Palme d'Or" by Chef Jean Imbert
