Alaska on Soltice
May
Pros: Entertainment, crew, ports of call, ship cleanliness, martini bar
Cons: No safe in the cabin, the food was fair to food, never great
Recommended: Yes
Wonderful entertainment and activities on board. The staff and crew were friendly. The ports of call were beautiful and the ship was clean. We enjoyed the different bars, restaurants and locations to visit while on board. It seemed there were never enough seats in the Oceanview Cafe and the food there was often luke warm, never hot. The dining room and specialty restaurants were much better.

Amazing First Time Cruise
August
Pros: Service, Food, Entertainment
Cons: None
Recommended: Yes
We stayed in a Suite in the Retreat in a recent cruise to Alaska. This was our first time cruising and we could not have had a better time. I can only comment on what it was like to stay in The Retreat and it was amazing. I can't say enough about the attention and the service we received. The food we had in Luminae and the Specialty Restaurants was next level. We were also amazed by the level of entertainment - we took the time to see most of the shows. We will cruise again for sure!

Alaska Cruise
June
Pros: Great Food, Entertainment, Activities
Cons: Not a lot for kids to do on this ship.
Recommended: Yes
We had such a great time, and cannot wait until we can sail again with celebrity! We were traveling without children, and this ship was perfect for that. If we cruise as a couple again, I would absolutely cruise with celebrity again, however if we took our daughter with us we would likely cruise on a line that is a little more geared toward kids. This was our first trip alone in 5 years so we appreciated the excellent concierge service we received and also liked that this felt like an “adult” vacation because there were not that many children on the ship.

We had a great time on the Alaskan cruise. All our servers were wonderful. Very attentive. Our Blu maitre’d Sherwin was very attentive. Jerome and Ferlinda were great. Alaska Cruise 5/12 - 5/19/2023
May
Pros: The staff: Dining Room: Bainul, Yudha, Girlie; Stateroom: Fatima. All of the dining room staff were so helpful to me regarding my food allergies plus they were all very personable. Fatima could not have been more accommodating, and she was so sweet. FIVE STARS ?????????? for all of them!!!.
Cons: Our tour in Victoria was slightly misrepresented. It was slated to be a bus tour. We ended up walking nearly 3 miles. I handled it ok, but several individuals in our group had mobility issues. I was looking for a more relaxed tour on our last day, so that did not meet my expectations. However, Victoria was gorgeous, and I still enjoyed it.

4-5 Stars for the Suite Room Design
December
Pros: Beautiful Ship, Great Service, Friendly Staff
Cons: Suite Room Design, worst design I have ever seen for our 28th cruise.
Recommended: Yes
We ate at the Blu Restaurant every night as part of the Agua Spa Suite. The staff was great and super friendly, and we had a wonderful time every night! The Aqua Spa was also nice, and we did spend at least 4 days there. I won't ever get off the ship again in Ensenada. The other two ports were great, and we had tasty food and drinks. The stateroom: the sofa prevents you from standing in front of the closet! The shower angle makes you stand in the corner of the shower because the head could not stay in the middle no matter what we did, I need zip ties, I guess. Going to shower at the Spa was better. The bathroom counter is the smallest I have ever had. 900-1300 guests onboard depending on who you talked to....that was sweet!

June
Pros: We were very well treated on the ship, everything was on time, clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Best trip ever!
Cons: Maybe better music groups, at least as far as my taste in music goes. We loved the one band that played a large variety, I believe they were from the Phillipines. Excellent - more of the same!
Recommended: Yes
I have no comments other than those made above. Maybe more dance music, even a dj. But that's just my preference, I feel everyone else enjoyed the music that was offered.

Solstice 7 day Alaskan Cruise
June
Pros: Itinerary, accomodations, seated dining and staff
Cons: Buffet area
Recommended: Yes
Everything about this cruise was 5 star except the buffet area. The food and staff were excellent but the food "station" concept created a sense of chaos with hundreds of diners milling about in several different directions. This feeling was generally shared by all 14 people in our group. As a result most of our meals were taken in the main dining area.

Pros: Ship, room accommodations, restaurants.
Cons: Lack of seating in main cafe and our Victoria BC excursion.
Recommended: Yes
We were extremely pleased with our overall experience. The ship itself was beautiful and our room attendent did an amazing job and was very friendly and pleasant. We often could not find a seat in the main cafe, especially right before debarking for an excursion or right after returning to the ship. The other restaurants- Sushi on 5 and Murano's were excellent. The whale excursion at Victoria BC had us wait for an hour and a half and then did a very poor job. They were very unprofessional. We would definitely not recommend their tour.

Suite life is the good life
June
Pros: Staff, food, activities, amenities all above average
Cons: It’s still a boat!
Recommended: Yes
I’m not a “cruise person” and have never wanted to cruise. However, I was told by many that it is the best way to see Alaska. And I think that is correct. We had a Royal Suite and it was perfect for my two adult daughters and I. The staff could not have been more attentive, there was always something to do and the food was as plentiful as you’ve been told. We met many people who never left the ship. I would suggest you leave the ship as often as you can. After all you are traveling. Travel! See the sights but enjoy the ship when you are “ home”.

Pros: Beautiful ship, very clean and well maintained.
Cons: No bad reports about the ship.

I can't say anything bad about our cruise to Alaska. The complete staff were excellent. Every single staff member will address you as you walk buy. They will greet you every time and I believe that is very important. Our room attendant, Michael, was fantastic. Our Waiter Jim and Assistant Waiter Sunny were awesome. Very professional, friendly and accommodating. They remembered our name the second night of dining. I met the Captain who was very warm, friendly and funny. We will cruise with Celebrity again.

Pros: Itinerary was fabulous! AquaSpa class had many personal amenities that made it worth the extra $$. Blu restaurant was very good and service was 5-star. Tuscan restaurant was also outstanding. Captain Taos was really special - good communicator and great sense of humor!
Cons: Overall ship is being maintained however some small areas are starting to show need for refreshing. The Murano specialty restaurant didn’t live up to the hype.

High praise
September
Pros: Service, Food, Port Excursions
Cons: Could be more focused on Alaska experience and less on bars and nightlife
Recommended: Yes
Trip was wonderful - Celebrity works hard to ensure a positive experience in all aspects. Food was outstanding, so were the port excursions. The behind the scenes tour was worth it. Impressed with the crew for quick reaction when Skagway port was closed and they arranged an unplanned visit to Icy Point Straight, a wonderful port. Also, the naturalist presentations were so well received they added more. I do wish Celebrity would improve their web site- advance planning was not as easy as it could have been. But the onboard experience- fantastic. Also a note for others: compared to other cruise lines we have been on, this ship seemed to have a lot of bars and also high end shopping. Could have used more simple coffee/cold drink places instead of the bars, and more 'normal' shops rather than the expensive designer /diamond/art gallery shops. Also, after dark visit to Butchart Gardens was not a good value. Not that well lit.

July
Pros: Hard to list, but just about everything was spectacular. Our cabin was great, our food was great, lots of wonderful activities and the crew was beyond exceptional.
Cons: We had a private deck with deck chairs. We usually stood and stared at the view because it was wonderful, but also because the deck chairs were very uncomfortable. We kept sliding out of our seats. Also, maybe they could spring for some new towels every once in a while--ours were a bit haggard and scratchy.

Cons: Can't think of a thing.

I loved every moment of my cruise on the Celebrity Solstice! I didn't want it to end. I was constantly in awe of the ship's beauty. The captain was such an expert at his job. I was so amazed at how easily he steered such a large vessel, as if it were a small toy. And he was very friendly and also funny. He kept us informed every step of the way. The entire crew was so expert at their respective jobs, and so attentive and personable. I just can't say enough about the Solstice and it's crew!

Alaskan Cruise June 2017
June
Pros: Crew and Staff; shows and entertainment; food
Cons: Elevators - not enough spent a lot of wasted time waiting for elevators; Oceanside Cafe - Buffet; food was good but it was difficult to find seating and some of the guests would reserve many seats for family members who had not arrived yet
Recommended: Yes
This was an amazing honeymoon for me and my husband. We had an awesome time! The ship exceeded our expectations in many ways. The best part of the cruise was when our captain took the ship down the Tracy Arm Fjord - this was so incredible and breathtaking. Captain Tasos was disappointed that we didn't see much wildlife so he went closer to shore to hopefully be able to see more. His sense of humor was great and we felt very safe having him as our captain. Our cruise director Damain was fantastic and energized everyone. Our porter - Cesar was very warm and friendly and made our stay very comfortable. Our favorite port was Ketchikan. Such a quaint, beautiful little town. Stop by the Sourdough Bar - the local people are very friendly. Our excursion through Ketchikan Outdoors- Rainforest Family Adventure was perfect. So if you go on the cruise check them out...Louis and his team are great. We rode 4x4 buggies through the rainforest and Saxman Village. We stopped at a campsite in the mountains and they served us blueberry pancakes and hot chocolate by a campfire. The experience we had can not be described in words - it is very worth the money for memories that will last us a lifetime.

August
Pros: Varieties of good food, loved each of the specialty restaurants-a must! Staff was courteous, friendly, personable, rooms were clean and we lived the veranda. Loved Alaska too!
Cons: Watch the recommendations on excursion bookings. If you have dietary issues like allergies, that's a bit challenging as you really can't be assured you're not eating something you're allergic to unless you dine specialty restaurant.
Recommended: Yes
We paid way too much for an onboard booked excursion-small boat which was fine but we paid $200/each and saw no wild life. It's a chance you take but was a long trip for what we got. Best thing was we met some really nice people on this excursion.

The thing that most disappointed us was the food. Dinner selections, in our opinion, were average. We had the same thing for dessert every night but one!! Desserts on the buffet, most were tasteless. July
Pros: best service, warm and friendly, funny and entertaining even the Captain
Cons: all specialty dining was an upcharge, buffet was typical
Recommended: Yes
Outside café was the same every day with burgers, hot dogs, fries. Buffet is typical, tire of it by the end of the week. Fine dining was great but didn't get to try the specialty dining since an upcharge and wanted to spend my money on excursions. All ports were great with the exception of Juneau, nothing but jewelry stores and souvenir shopping. Thank goodness we had an excursion that occupied us most of the day. Really loved Finton who took great care of us in our cabin and we were greatly entertained by the Captain and Ken.

The butler saved our trip! (disability needs)
May
Pros: Wonderful "new" Luminae Restaurant, nice disability BR in our suite, excellent food and service
Cons: no "companion" restrooms, production shows just OK
Recommended: Yes
This was our seventh cruise but the first since my wife's disability required an ADA type suite. The suite itself was great, no separate bedroom but spacious enough, BR with roll-in shower and handheld showerhead, good railing. Toilet otherwise standard, which was OK, but sink was at a nice higher level. The ship does have handicapped stalls, but within the mens' or womens' rooms, i.e. no "companion" or "family" restroom per se. We had been on the Silhouette a few years ago, so the suite class restaurant Luminae was new to us, quiet and very accommodating to our special requests. Tuscan Grill and Murano Restaurants excellent as before. I had never been seasick before, but was incapacitated for a whole day, while my wife was totally fine. Our butler saved it for us, by getting her food from the buffet when I couldn't and room service was overwhelmed! The rest of the cruise was OK, not as magical as our first cruise on the older, smaller Infinity. Brent Nixon was the entertaining and knowledgable naturalist on board. Nice spa and massages. The production shows were a bit overwrought and disappointing. BTW, the HAL Westerdam, our AK cruise last year, does have companion restrooms, very useful. For us, Celebrity has notably better food and personal service, but HAL has a better ship layout for our needs, seems friendlier and may be a better value.

April
Pros: Beautiful ship; wonderful itinerary; met great new friends
Cons: I'm not a suite guest so..............
Recommended: Yes
The "little things" that any hotel chain offers are not available if you are not a suite guest on Celebrity...basic amenities like cotton balls, q-tips, paper & pen! When I asked at guest services, I was told that those items are in suites only. It's become apparent that Celebrity is reaching out to that market and leaving the rest of us behind. This is not taking me away from Celebrity as I have already booked Reflection for 2017, but will encourage me to look at other lines as well.

I was really surprised at the cost of on ship programs. The drink ( coffee, soda or beverage) packages were really out of line I thought. The entertainment on the ship played a lot of the same music. Overall excellent value. Ship was immaculate. All dning venues were excellent especially the Blu Dining Room and Matri'D and Captain as well as the Ensemble Bar. Only port that was tricky was Melbrourne with a very crowded gate where we could not find our tour guide and were very frustrated. A local ambassador kindly let us use her phone so we could track our tour guide down. Nobody seemed to know anything about private tours.

Pros: Beautiful ship, staff, people on board and those we met on land.
Cons: Upgrade your cabin for the included beverage package and more.
Recommended: Yes
We tried to book the most affordable room (inside with no window). After signing up for shore excursions ($1146.50) and the classic beverage package (cokes, coffees, bottled water, wine and drinks $1557.60) we paid $2704.10 more. If we had had upgraded our room one or both would have been included by Celebrity.

First cruise to Alaska & Victoria, BC on Solstice
September
Pros: Staterm attendants Ovidio & Zhuri were excellent! Waiters in Main Dining Rm, especially Asep & Cahya were superb. Overall staff were pleasant & helpful. We appreciated their attentativeness, courtesies & extra touches, e.g., of pulling back our chairs to be seated, handing us our cloth napkins, etc. All were very gracious & polite. Cynthia who greeted us at the door of this dining area, was pleasant, welcoming & most accommodating. We were very pleased by her care, concern & sensitivity. We appreciated the wheelchair service to get us onto the beautiful ship, Solstice, & being welcomed with champagne & mamussas. Our staterm #6143 was lovely. Furnishings, design, comfort were state of the art. Fitness center, library, casino, shops, multiple lounge areas were well designed. Activities on ship were a great variety & most entertaining. Cruise information on staterm TV most informative. Entertainment in Solstice Theater was terrific, especially hypnotist & comedian Miguel & Miss Amanda.
Cons: Staterm: face of 2nd drawer from bottom pulls from right side of frame when ou open drawer; life jackets under bed need dusting; hook on wall to hold sash of right curtain needs to be tightened/hammered; left closet door needs adjusting to slide smoothly. Disembarkation: would have been nice to have complimentary water & coffee offered near waiting areas for disembarking; coordination of getting off guests requiring wheelchair assistance was poor from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. -- embarrassing to have name called at 5th last call because, although we had been on time to disembark, we had to wait our turn & then have to wait further for one out of 1000 staff to help us off ship.

Appreciated free wifi capability. Food at Oceanview Cafe Deck 14 & Main Dining Rm Deck 4 had great selection & variety--chief cook & team to be commended. Celebrity Solstice is a beautiful cruise ship. Would easily travel again on this ship.

We were on this ship in Australia last December and seeked it out for another cruise as this captain runs a tight and efficient ship. Unfortunatly, we had to bypass the primary segment of the trip because of a medical emergency, which interrupted the scheduled path. The craps table minimum had gone to 10 dollars from the previous 5.00 . While this may seem insignificant to management, it scares away many players and we found ourselves very lonely at the table most nights. Believe it or not, craps is the primary consideration of our group of 32 that takes a Janurary cruise of (2 ) back to backs each Janurary.

This cruise was definitely for the older and affluent crowd and if that is you, then this cruise is for you. Celebrity's dining and service were 5 star however, the entertainment and activities were lacking compared to Royal Caribbean. I did enjoy my cruise but I will likely book with Royal or Disney next time.

Cons: The flight, and getting to Australia, is extremely long. Going through airports and customs can be difficult and very tiring.

Seventeen Day Sea Cruise
February
Pros:
Cons:
Recommended: Yes
Every facet of the ship, our room, the food the service, room, wait staff and such were outstanding. The band was far too loud, especially the drums and brass instruments. The emcee left much to be desired. Jim Kennedy's presentations were outstanding. He was impressive and certainly knowledgeable. Tours were overpriced. The short length of the steam train ride was a disappointment and at times you were left with questions as to what, where and when the transportation would return to continue or return to the ship. The gymnasts and the Chinese violinist were especially enjoyed.

December
Pros: Probably the best overall rating that I have ever given.
Cons: No self service laundry
Recommended: Yes
A well organized ship with impeccable service and crew. They don't push drinks on you at every turn and nothing is pushed beyond low key. This ship is in wonderful condition and Celebrity seems to have thought everything through. Yes,a lot of the small perks from yesteryear are gone, but they have disappeared from other cruise ships as well. Entry and exit were streamlined and there was no long lines to contend with. We came away better satisfied than we have in our last 15 or 20 cruises. We will be back on this ship again in the future.

Solstice; One Man's opinion
August
Pros: Decor, Venues, ship design, food
Cons: Bar staff, and wait staff leave a LOT to be desired.
Recommended: Yes
After 45+ cruises and having sailed everything from the now defunt Viking line, to Carnival, Princess and Royal Caribbean, my wife and I are in a unique postition to evaluate the Solstice. The lay out of the ship was creative and well designed, the venues furnished exquisitly! The food both in the dinning room and in the Oceanview (buffet) Cafe are far and away the best we've ever eaten. It's not even close. Dinning room menu choices, though leaning far too heavily towards fish for our taste, were many and varied. And every item we sampled was literally to die for! It was that good! We found all of the ships officers to be extremely approachable and friendly. The same cannot be said of the bar and wait staff. We found them aloof and distant, often barking at guests who were not familiar with either choices on a menu, be it food or drink, or simply not familiar with the "Celebrity" way of doing things. It is my opinion and that of my wife, that the customer service on Celebrity needs some re evaluation and tightening up. It is, in my opinion, near the bottom in rating the customer service on all of the lines we've traveled. In fact, to be absolutely frank, the only worse customer service we've seen has been on Carnival; a line we will never, ever cruise again, even if we were given one for free. But make no mistake; this one SINGLE aspect of the cruise was the only place in which we could find fault, and we would most certainly travel with Celebrity again!

A very pleasant 7 day cruise. Lots to do at every port, dog sledding, whale watching, sea kayaking and the list goes on. as with all celebrity ships and especially the Solstice Class ships the food and service are wonderful. We were three generations including 7 grandchildren and everyone had a great time.

Pros: 1. Signature restaurants are okay. Food is okay. Cabin service is okay. Dining service is okay.
